Foiling is an exciting new avenue to the sport of sailing.
This year, we will be offering a variety of foiling programmes at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre’s based in Portland, Reading and Lake Garda. Foiling courses will take place in a variety of boats, including Lasers and RS Aero’s (both of which will be adapted with Glide Free kits). In addition to this Foiling Nacra 20’s and Phantoms, which have been donated by Artemis Racing.
The Andrew Simpson Foiling Centre will offer a variety of different programmes, packages and experiences to individuals, groups and corporates. This is the first course in the RYA SailFoil scheme, providing you with a basic introduction to foiling, assisting you to make your first foiling take off. As a pre-requisite you should hold the RYA Level 2 Basic Skills certificate.
Learn about the practical techniques and theory required to foil, steer and maintain a course effectively. (NOTE: Any tacking or gybing at this level is non-foiling). Assumed knowledge and practical ability on starting this course will be of First Flights or above.
Foiling at different angles, in and out of manoeuvres, providing you with a good understanding as to the theory of foiling. Assumed knowledge and practical ability on starting this course will be of Sustained Flights or above.
